Unexpected Legacy

Chris Elliott, new Welcare Chair of Trustees, welcomed Bobby (pictured) and Peter Johnson to the Welcare Centre in Redhill this week to unveil a plaque marking an unexpected legacy gift.

Chris Elliott – chair of trustees with Bobby Johnson, December 2021

This legacy was made to the Johnsons from the estate of the late Gloria (known as Laura) Evelyn Price, a lady who lived for many years in Redhill and was a friend of Bobby’s.

Bobby has had a deep involvement in the work of Welcare in East Surrey over the years and led the appeal and fundraising in 1994/5  to purchase the Redhill Centre premises at 24 Warwick Road.

In view of these connections the Johnsons generously donated a portion of the personal legacy they received to fund our new pilot programme Families & Schools Together which will enable us to deliver group work programmes in St Matthew’s School in Redhill.
