Welcare Family Centre, Redhill
Welcare Family Centre, Redhill
Welcare Family Centre, Redhill, is one of four Family Centres working in partnership covering the borough of Reigate and Banstead to support the most vulnerable families with children aged 0-11 and promote their upbringing. We work closely with our partner providers – East Surrey YMCA, Epsom Downs Primary School and Furzefield Primary (Red Oak) across the area of Reigate and Banstead to meet the needs of local families.
This is a new service commissioned by Surrey County Council and replaces the previous children’s centres. The Family Centre offers one to one family support work and parenting programmes to families identified as being in greatest need of support. This represents a change to the service, which was previously universal and open to all, but will ensure that those facing challenges in their family life have access to the right support at the right time.
Universal services provided by the health team, such as Child Health Drop-In Clinics, will still take place in the centre. In addition there will be a range of targeted services, for example the peri-natal mental health service which supports expectant and new mothers with moderate to severe mental health problems, offering appointments in the centre.
Alongside the work of the Family Centre for the Redhill area, Welcare in East Surrey continues to offer charitably funded services for families living in East Surrey. These services are funded by support from local churches and the Netherby Trust.
It enables us to offer
• one-to-one family support work for families in East Surrey.
• our 10 week My Space programme for children who have been affected by domestic abuse. (This course has run in locations in both Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge this year).
In line with the latest government guidelines our staff continues to work with individual parents and children by answering calls, emails and using other digital channels. We continue to receive new referrals for individual, one-to-one support.
We are still working, just differently.
We are still offering foodbags and these will now be delivered using appropriate social distancing techniques. If you wish to refer a family for a foodbag, plesase email email@example.com.

Welcare in East Surrey have successfully applied for a grant from the Community Foundation for Surrey which will continue to fund our play worker who runs groups to support families with lower level identified needs. These include:
Mummy and Me
Service for mothers and babies offering support for emotional well-being and post natal depression and focusing on the development of good attachment.
Every Child a Talker
A targeted intervention for children with an identified speech and language delay.
Focusing on speech language development specifically supporting children and families where English is an additional language.
An intervention for families living in an area of high deprivation.
One Step at a Time
A group for children with additional needs and disabilities.
The Play worker also runs crèches supported by volunteers, which allow parents to attend parenting courses. In addition play work is also provided on a one-to-one basis at home for parents with anxiety and identified needs, who may find attending group activities too challenging.
