Welcare provided vouchers and gifts to families this Christmas

This Christmas we enabled families to take control of their personal circumstances by providing supermarket and store vouchers to parents so that they could buy toys for their children in Bromley and South-West London and gave free gifts to nominated families in East Surrey and Inner London.

With thanks to everyone who helped us with the events below and provided vouchers and gifts.

Parents Christmas Celebration

When: 18th December

Where: Bromley Parish Church

Welcare in Bromley held its annual Christmas parent social event at Bromley Parish Church on the 18th December. The event was filled with a joyous festive spirit. We are very thankful to the church and our supporters for donating gift vouchers enabling parents to choose gifts for their children.

Toy Choosing Event

When: 10th December

Where: East Surrey

Welcare in East Surrey ran it’s annual Toy Choosing event on December 10th where nominated families were invited to come and choose brand new and free gifts for their children. 4 volunteers came to help with setting up from Willis Towers Watson. Staff had brought in extra tables from home and every possible surface in the playroom was covered with gifts and presents.  Thank you once again to the team and it was lovely to see some familiar faces.

The doors opened to Toy Choosing at 9.30am and during the course of the day 53 families came and chose toys for their 116 children. With the Christmas music playing and staggered numbers of families in the playroom at any one time, it was a fantastically festive and calm atmosphere all day.

Later on in the day we also had several local professionals come and choose for 74 children from families they are working with. We give a huge thank you to the churches/schools/organisations and individuals that donated to us a wonderful selection of brand new toys.

Service Users Christmas Party

When: 11th December

Where: Inner London

Welcare in Inner London held it’s annual Christmas party on the 11th December to which 20 children were invited to. The Welcare staff played games with the children and the parents to promote child and parent relationship and the children received gifts from Welcare. It was a wonderful event enjoyed by all who attended.

Vouchers Distribution

When: December

Where: South West London

Generous members of the congregation of St Anne’s Church , Kew Green collected gift and supermarket vouchers to the value of £615 to be distributed to vulnerable local families. This type of support is vital as vouchers are convenient to use and enable families to buy fresh produce, cleaning and sanitary products and nappies and some of the extra items that make the festive period so expensive for families on low and fixed incomes.

Thank you for your support and for all your donations including financial gifts, toys and vouchers over the festive period.
