£2000 grant for Welcare in East Surrey

Welcare in East Surrey is delighted to have been awarded a £2000 grant from the small grants fund at Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.

Our thanks go to Councillor Sue Sinden and Councillor Stephen Mckenna for their support with our application.

The grant is for our Families in Crisis Fund which we use to purchase items which will support individual vulnerable families in a way that meets their individual needs.  It could be purchasing an item for the child or for the home or purchasing some respite child care.  Where we can we will always source suitable items/support from other local agencies such as Furnistore and Stripey Stork so that we are not duplicating other services, but adding to what already exists. Examples of items previously purchased by this fund are:

  • hiring a man with a van to enable a family to move out of temporary housing
  • a folding table so a family can all eat together
  • a mattress for a bed frame from Furnistore
  • a desk for a child needing a surface to do schoolwork from during lockdown

And as the level of need rises due to Covid-19 we are grateful to have additional funds with which to make a difference.

Thank you Reigate & Banstead
