Current Groups
Usually we run groups and workshops to enable us to reach more families and provide a welcoming and supportive environment for those who come to use our services. Groups can be an excellent way for families and children to share their experiences, as well as build up a local support network.
Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, we are unable to run groups but here is a list of some of the regular groups and workshops we have run in the past.
Child Health Drop-In
Who is it for?
Families with babies.
What is it?
Fortnightly session where parents can come and weigh their babies and chat to the 0-19 team about any concerns.
Baby Café
Who is it for?
For breastfeeding mothers
What is it?
The Baby Café is a group for breastfeeding mothers to meet up in a relaxed setting and get support with any breastfeeding worries. Partners and other family members are welcome. The Baby Café meets on a weekly basis except during half term holidays.
Mummy and Me
Who is it for?
A weekly group supporting the emotional wellbeing of mums and babies.
Baby Massage
Who is it for?
This course is for parents/carers and their non-crawling babies from 8 weeks old.
What is it?
The course helps parents to increase their bond with their baby through touch in a relaxing and informative setting.
First Aid for Parents
Who is it for?
There is a small charge for this course and it is only available to parents, carers and soon-to-be parents.
What is it?
This one-off session gives an introduction to first aid, such as the essential contents of a first aid box, baby CPR, baby choking, the recovery position and the information that is asked if you call 999.
Introduction to Family Foods
Who is it for?
For parents/carers with babies aged up to 6 months
What is it?
It provides advice on introducing them to solid foods.
Parenting Puzzle
Who is it for?
This course encourages parents/carers to enjoy bringing up children and get the best out of family life.
What is it?
We offer positive and practical ways of guiding children so they can better learn to handle their feelings and their behaviour. We have 4 week and 10 week courses available.
Let’s Talk
Who is it for?
Children and parents who have English as an additional language.
What is it?
Weekly group to support children and parents who have English as an additional language.
Messy Play
Who is it for?
For parents/carers and their under 5’s
What is it?
Weekly drop-in for parents/carers and their under 5’s to come along and have fun playing together. Each session offers a craft activity, singing and refreshments.
Every Child A Talker
Who is it for?
For parents who have concerns about their under 5’s speech and language development.
What is it?
6 week course focusing on communication and speech and language development in under 5’s.
One Step at a Time
Who is it for?
For under 5s with additional needs and /or disabilities.
What is it?
Weekly play and communication group.
My Space
An interactive programme for children aged between 8 and 13 who have been affected by domestic abuse. Up to 12 weekly sessions.
