Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation, some may help in the office, others at one off events, whilst some volunteer weekly with families and children. If you feel you could help as part of our next intake in the autumn, we’d like to hear from you.

If you are interested in volunteering for Welcare, please register your interest, and a member of our team will be in touch

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering with Welcare is an opportunity to use your skills, time and enthusiasm to make a positive difference. Volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and experience. Our diverse team of volunteers helps Welcare bring our services into the heart of the community. As a volunteer you can:

  • Make a positive difference to the lives of children and families in your community
  • Be an essential part of a charity with a distinguished 125-year history
  • Help to strengthen and empower families
  • Build your confidence

Benefits of volunteering with Welcare

Volunteers are an integral part of our team. You will benefit from a professional support structure, with ongoing guidance and support.

Our training will give you all the practical knowledge you need to have an enjoyable volunteering experience.

What do we require from our Volunteers?

  • Enthusiasm
  • Time
  • Commitment
  • Reliability
  • Compassion
  • Respect for confidentiality

Our current training for volunteers working directly with children and families includes two days of mandatory training, with additional training for those working as Family Helpers or Mentors. We have a range of volunteer opportunities. The time and commitment needed from volunteers will often depend on the role, but generally for those working with children and families we are looking for a commitment of at least one year.

Due to safety concerns and insurance restrictions, we can only accept volunteers over the age of 18.
