Christmas starts with carol singing at the Anglers

It has become a tradition for members of the choir and congregation from St Mary with St Alban in Teddington to meet at the Anglers, the picturesque pub situated on the Thames next to the lock, to sing carols and raise funds for the work of Welcare.

There is a lively and festive atmosphere and this annual event provides a welcome opportunity to catch up with friends and supporters and recruit new ones.  I also enjoy the opportunity to raise awareness of the needs of children and families in even the most affluent suburbs, to talk about the issues facing the families we work with, and spread the word about the commitment of Welcare to continuing to serve the community for generations to come.

The carol singing wouldn’t happen without many people giving up their time at a busy time of year but special thanks go to Margaret Squire (pictured) and Rev Chris Kennedy for comparing the evening and sporting such a festive waistcoat.

This year we raised £470!
