Welcare in Southwark Centre Manager
David's experience of Welcare and its aims has been as a Trustee and Treasurer of Lewisham Welcare since 1996 when its principal activity, the Contact Centre, was first set up. As a trustee he has been closely involved in maintaining the financial viability of the organisation and making sure all the financial and legal requirements required of the charity are met. Earlier experience of his in this capacity involved the Tower Hamlets CRE, a local voluntary organisation specialising in community and race relations. He was also for a time a resident of Toynbee Hall and a member of its Council.
Employment: teacher of History, moving into management and becoming Head of two secondary schools, first Lady Margaret, a C. of E. school in Fulham, the second Sutton High, GDST, an independent with a primary department. Voluntary work: until recently a magistrate, with special interest in the Youth Court, and currently a Governor of two primary schools. Welcare links: a Trustee of Sutton and volunteer in our Contact Centre. Church: All Saints, Carshalton.
Judy Foster has lived in Southwark with her family for the last 25 years. She was a social worker and training and staff development manager in an inner London social services department, then a national development officer in the social work and social care training body. She is particularly keen to help support preventive services for families in the diocese.
64, married with two adult sons. Born and educated in South London. A Chartered Civil Engineer and, until retirement, a Director of an international property services group giving 'hands on experience' in business life of employment, training, pensions trusteeship and property matters. Involved centrally in the Welcare Centenary appeal and a trustee of Welcare in East Surrey. Member, St Paul's Woldingham PCC. Freeman of the City of London and past master of a City Livery Company.
Daniel Kajumba is the Bishop's Council's nominee to the Southwark Diocesan Welcare Board. He was born in 1952 in Uganda. Having been exiled to Britain during Idi Amin's regime in Uganda, he worked at different times in a factory, as an auxiliary nurse, a youth officer, deputy warden of a Christian hostel and as proprietor of a home for the elderly before training for the ministry on the Southwark Ordination Course. He was priested in 1986, serving his curacy in St. Albans Diocese before returning to Uganda in 1987 where he served as a non-stipendiary minister whilst working as a senior executive in the Ugandan Government and later as the Secretary General of the kingdom of Buganda, in what is now southern Uganda. He is married to Tina and they have two children, both at university. He is the Archdeacon of Reigate in the Southwark Diocese.
Bridget Knapper is Director of Knapper Bean Ltd., a PR and Marketing agency specialising in the public and not-for-profit sector. She has been a trustee of Lewisham WelCare for over five years where she focussed on fundraising.
David is the Managing Partner of Anthony Gold, Solicitors, a leading London Southbank law firm with a national reputation for personal injury, family and housing work. He has a particular interest and expertise in ‘cross-over’ employment and personal injury work, including stress and bullying at work cases. He is a former president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. He worships at Herne Hill United church where he is also a member of the Finance and Property Committee and a leader of teenagers’ junior church sessions. In his spare time he enjoys reading history and fiction (Victorian and modern) and supports Crystal Palace football club. He is married with two children.
Professor of Not for Profit Management at London South Bank University and Director of the Centre for Government and Charity Management. Currently Vice Chair of Lambeth WelCare. Previously a Social Worker and Area Manager of Social Services. Familiar with WelCare since 1979. Served on the WelCare Committee in Merton in the late 1980's.
Marion Parsons has been a member of the Central Management Committee of Welcare for the past three years and chaired the Equal Opportunities sub group. She was initially appointed from the Diocesan Board of Church in Society. She worships at St. Saviour’s, Brockley Rise in the Borough of Lewisham.
Marion is a qualified social worker and recently retired after working for a local voluntary organisation in Southwark, placing children with disabilities/special needs in local early years provision, offering parents respite and young children the opportunity to play with others, and benefit from the stimulation of early learning programmes. Since retiring from paid work she has become Coordinator of the Parish Parent and Toddler group which helps her keep in touch with the concerns of young families. She also supports local women refugee and asylum seekers in Lewisham.
Andrew has a strong background in corporate real estate and asset management. He has an in depth experience of property transaction management and site assessment including due diligence, site and concept appraisals, using financial cost modelling and securing government approvals. He is currently the owner of Midas Corporate Consulting Ltd, which he established to help transform how organisations use property to deliver their products or services and improve their overall financial performance. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He is a former Reserve Officer (Captain, Royal Green Jackets) and a former Introduction Leader (IL) and head coach on the Introduction Leader training programme (ILP) with Landmark Education.
In his spare time he enjoys horse riding, Scuba diving, walking (mountain leadership), sailing (coastal skipper) and dancing.
Andrew is the representative trustee nominated by Southwark Diocesan Board of Finance. He is a solicitor, with 17 years experience in Central London firms, specialising in property, and commercial work. He has lived in Wimbledon since 1987 and is a PCC member at St. Mary's, Putney since 1979, Wandsworth Deanery Synod since 1993, Southwark Diocesan Synod since 1996, Board of Finance since about 2001, Bishopís Council since 2003.
He is also a Trustee of Equinox Care (and previously Alcohol Services for South London from 1997) The London Drug & Alcohol Network Limited (and previously Greater London Association of Alcohol Services from 1999) Associate Hospital Manager with South West London & St. George's Mental Health NHS Trust since 1995 (reviewing detained patients under the Mental Health Act). His previous contact has been with Welcare in Wandsworth and Central Welcare on behalf of Putney Parish, concerning the Emily Peter Fund.
