OurPlace Young People’s Exhibition 2018

On Friday 13th April, we gathered together supporters, trustees, volunteers, funders and members of the public to celebrate and be inspired by the first young people who took part in our participatory photography group as part of our OurPlace weekly drop in.

It was a vibrant and positive Friday afternoon held Upstairs at The Ritzy in Brixton, attended by the Deputy Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Jane Pickard and Canon Rosemarie Mallet, among other guests. We were delighted to mark the achievements of the young people in learning a new skill of photography, and using them to express their thoughts and feelings as young voices of Lambeth. We especially thank Lambeth Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service who funded the project.

During the event we displayed canvases and photographs taken by and selected by the young people themselves. We also had presentations from our CEO, Anna Khan, and Child & Family Support Manager for Inner London, Hannah Franklin, as well as a few words from the Deputy Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Guilherme Rosa. After these, we showed the digital stories that we curated by the young people and contain their own words. Please watch below:
